Aardvark Records, Inc. PMB 190 8024 Mesa Drive Austin TX 78731-1319 Aardvark was incorporated in Austin, TX in August 1997 by Barry Simon and Lee Elliott. Both are members of the band Blue Cartoon and had a primary motivation to promote the efforts of their band. However, the founders do plan to produce and promote other artists in a variety of genres to fill out the Aardvark catalog. One such example is the self-titled debut CD by jazz pianist/composer Terry Bowness. Aardvark's business model is geared towards somewhat cooperative efforts between artist and label. There are no artist advances to be given out or world tours to sponsor, but Aardvark does provide captive recording services and bears the cost of artwork and CD manufacturing for those artists that the label chooses to support. Promotion is done primarily via the Internet, local and world-wide magazines, and radio where possible. Aardvark considers a very limited number of annual projects at this time.
